Sensor and Alarm Systems

T he implementation of sensor and alarm systems can range from simple turn-key installations where off-the-shelf products are delivered and plugged-in to complex design and construction projects where components are designed from the ground up as part of "smart buildings". For the systems engineer, each effort is a challange to not only develop a functional solution, but to provide an aesthetically pleasing end result. We specialize in the design and integration in complex sensor and mechanical systems.

Hawai`i
W e have designed many fire alarm systems. They range in for size and complexity from individual buildings to campus wide installation at schools such as Iolani Schools to large and complex ones such as the one at the Honolulu International Airport. We not only handle the design from the electrical service entrance to the alarm, but we also strive to architectually blend the alarm infrastructure into the existing building architecture to provide a pleasing solution.

M embers of the AES Design Group, Inc. while with previous firms provided overall system planning, criteria and requirements definition, implementation plannng, design, and project andconstruction management. The system was designed to meet very dynamic Federal Aviation Administration requirements. The multi-faceted system included a central computer controlling access by card readers and cameras for visual observation. Communication between the central computer and card readers is provided by a fiber optic network. The project also included the design and implementation of the magnetic-strip security badges and layout alternatives for the security checkpoints.
