Our Philosophy

Our philosophy and management style make The AES Design Group special. We provide our professionals with a flexible, open, and multi-disciplined environment in a congenial but professional setting that fosters creativity. We temper this environment with experience and practicality. We employ individuals that share common values, focus and motivation- that of hard work, discipline, thoroughness and a commitment to client service - to deliver workable results on time and within budget. We believe that this makes our client’s time with us a pleasant and memorable one.
We believe that our client’s satisfaction is the primary goal for each project.  As client advocates and implementors, we play a multi-faceted role in support of their efforts to bring their desires to fruition. We play these roles as advisor, designer, consultant, and project manager. As such, we  provide quality information based on the depth and breadth of our collective experiences, presented in an objective and professional manner.
We believe that a consistent but flexible approach to design delivers the best results. Our approach to staffing and project management reflects this philosophy. We ensure consistency by staffing our projects with in-house staff, using outside resources only when necessary. This way we have a design team being made up of individuals with similar philosophies and approaches which make the project go smoothly. We don’t however, stifle the creativity that each team member brings to the design, but only assure that a single, cohesive design evolves- in the most efficient manner.
We believe that accountability is the best mechanism for quality assurance. We therefore, make the team totally responsible for the management and execution of the design. This provides our clients with peace of mind by having a single accountable entity and a product that is the best that the team can deliver.
We believe that structured but flexible project management delivers an on-time / within budget project. To facilitate and assure these outcomes, we organize our projects with a structure that allows us to have a single point of coordination for every aspect of our involvement. This reduces the confusion and communication breakdowns that can occur with complex projects. We assign an experienced project manager to each project who has the ability and the authority to determine when to “stay the course” or when to adjust to allow for unforeseen circumstances. Our project managers have direct control or have direct accountability for projects assigned to them.

We believe that culture and background play a significant role in assuring the success of a project. We staff our projects with individuals who can bridge cultural differences and understand the different backgrounds of each project stakeholder so that communication breakdowns are eliminated.
We believe that quality products come from those who have a stake in the final outcome of an effort and that even better products result if that stake extends beyond the end of that effort. We are Hawaii based, owned and operated. Our loyalties are to the people and economy of our State and we definitely have a stake in Hawaii and in the successful outcome of each project engagement.
