R enovations and rehabilitations are becoming more common as more and more people seek to preserve parts of their history and culture. Every renovation project presents a different set of challanges for the renovation team because they have a unique set of requirements determined by its intended use and the building's history and design. Senior Officer's Housing - Makalapa Naval Housing

Pacific Division
Naval Facilities Engineering Command - Makalapa, Hawai`i		 T he Makalapa Navel Housing was constructed as part of the massive build up of military installations in Hawai`i during the Second World War. We rehabilitated and converted 24 junior officer's quarters units into senior officer's quarters. The rehabilitation retained the exterior character of the unit but upgraded the interior to provide modern facilities suitable for senior officers.

Nuuanu Shops Historic Rehabilitation - Honolulu, Hawai`i		 A lan K. Hirota faced a challenging assignment while with a former firm - to rehabilitate a deteriorating historical building into shops and offices. Work included design, construction, documents, and construction management. Also included were the processing documents for federal funds and processing required permits for historical special design districts.
